Chris Howlett is one of Australia’s leading cellists – touring over 6 months a year around the world performing on some of the world’s leading stages! Known for his exciting and thrilling performances his latest release was number 1 on the Australian Classical Itunes.
Over the last three years he has performed Sold Out performances around the world with bases in New York, London, Vienna, Melbourne and China. His profile has exploded in China where he performs with 42 different Concert Halls a year based on his vivid performances of the classical repertoire, cross over performances and his ability to connect with the audience as he can speak Chinese.
He studied cello in Vienna, New York and London as well as at the Australian National Academy of Music where he completed his studies. Chris has been described as “…one of Australia’s finest emerging talents” and has been a finalist and prize winner at a number of chamber music competitions including the prestigious Trio di Trieste International Competition. Chris has also performed concerti with both symphonic and chamber orchestras in Milan, Rome, Paris, Estonia and Melbourne.
Chris, as one of Australia’s leading Artistic Directors, has given lectures around the world on a range of topics on Music History, Composers lives including Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn as well as his popular Bach to Beyonce key note speech.
Chris is Festival Director of 3 of Australia’s most prestigious music festivals and also sits as Chairman of Directors on Melbourne biggest classical based radio station 3MBS Fine Music, Chairman of PATMA Kids Education and regularly speaks for the Australian Government about Cultural Diplomacy
