Australian-Italian soprano Giuseppina Grech is one of the country’s most exciting and popular young vocal talents. In 2024, she sings Queen of the Night for Opera Australia in The Magic Flute at the Sydney Opera House.

A Melbourne Conservatorium of Music graduate, she continued her studies at La Scala’s Teatro Accademia alla Scala in Milan with renowned soprano Luciana Serra. At just 23, Giuseppina made her European debut as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at Teatro Moriconi in Italy and has since performed at major festivals and theatres across Europe.

In Australia, Giuseppina regularly appears as a principal artist with Opera Australia in both mainstage and touring productions; she recently starred as Carlotta Guidicelli in The Phantom of the Opera to critical acclaim. Other roles for the national company include Frasquita in Carmen and Isabella/Ferdinand in El Kid. She also appeared in Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour productions of La Boheme and La Traviata, as well as Aida, Madama Butterfly, Lucia di Lammermoor, and Anna Bolena at the Sydney Opera House.

Some of Giuseppina’s other notable roles include Swallow in The Happy Prince (Victorian Opera), Dido in Dido and Aeneas (VCA), Valencienne in The Merry Widow and Josephine in HMS Pinafore (Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria), and creating the role of Daughter for the world opera premiere of Gordon Kerry’s Grimms Tales. Giuseppina was also nominated for a Music Theatre Guild Award for her performance of Lady Thiang in The King and Ifor Babirra Theatre.

As a concert soloist, Giuseppina regularly tours nationally and internationally with some of Australia’s most celebrated cross-over artists, including Mark Vincent, The Australian Tenors, and Classical Violinist, Ian Cooper in An Afternoon at the Proms. She has also shared the stage with illustrious artists, including Sir Bryn Terfel, Yvonne Kenny, Teddy Tahu Rhodes, David Hobson, and James Morrison. Giuseppina has also given concerts throughout Asia, including performances in China, Vietnam, and Singapore. In 2021, she released her debut album, Love Is My Reason, featuring a stunning collection of beloved classics from opera, operetta, and Broadway, showcasing her versatility and emotional depth.

Giuseppina has also devised two shows, which she performs extensively on luxury cruise ships throughout South-East Asia and the Pacific.

In 2025, Giuseppina tours nationally as a principal artist in From Grand Opera Stages to London’s West End, celebrating her diverse repertoire from opera to Broadway.
